STEVEN M. ROTTMANN JR. NAMED NEW WISHIN CEO

FITCHBURG – The board of directors of the Wisconsin Statewide Health Information Network, Inc., (WISHIN today announced the appointment of Steven Rottmann Jr. as WISHIN’s new Chief Executive Officer.

As WISHIN’s Chief Operating Officer since 2016, Rottmann has been responsible for leading all business operations, developing and implementing strategic initiatives, managing customer and vendor contracts, and assisting with marketing and sales initiatives. Prior to his employment with WISHIN, Rottmann served as Director of Information Technology at Oakwood Village, and before that, he worked in various IT roles in the education and financial sectors. Rottmann served in the United States Army as a telecommunications sergeant (E-5) providing leadership to soldiers, including a tour in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom shortly after 9/11.

Rottmann was selected from among more than 100 applicants after a rigorous nationwide search. He will replace retiring WISHIN CEO Joe Kachelski, who has led WISHIN since it was incorporated in 2010. Under Kachelski’s direction, WISHIN has built an extensive and diverse network of nearly 2,200 sites of care. Network participants include hospitals, clinics, home health agencies, nursing homes, emergency medical services, pharmacies, public health departments, ADRCs, FQHCs, behavioral health providers, insurers, and others.

“Joe’s leadership has connected organizations whose unrelenting efforts to coordinate care will improve the health of the people of our state,” said Dr. Tim Bartholow, WISHIN’s Board Chair. “We look forward to continued growth that will allow new capabilities under Steve’s direction. As COO, Steve has demonstrated a superior responsiveness to our existing clients and an invitation to access key health data to potential new clients. He has played a critical role in helping WISHIN develop and sustain a trusted, secure, reliable statewide health information network.”

“I am honored to have the opportunity to lead this outstanding organization into the next phase of its evolution,” Rottmann said. “The future is bright for WISHIN. I look forward to working with the formidable team at WISHIN and continuing our quest to provide extraordinary value to our participants.”

Kachelski will stay on as CEO until the end of 2023, assisting in the leadership transition.
