The Wisconsin Statewide Health Information Network, Inc. (WISHIN) has experienced significant growth in the past five years, and the growth will continue as WISHIN prepares to celebrate its 14th birthday in December.
In 2010, the state officially announced its intention to designate WISHIN, a not-for-profit organization formed by the Wisconsin Hospital Association, Wisconsin Medical Society, Wisconsin Collaborative for Healthcare Quality, and Wisconsin Health Information Organization, as the state-designated entity (SDE) to govern statewide health information exchange.
WISHIN’s Project Director, Laura Widder, stated during WISHIN’s September 5th HIE Summit “14 years later, WISHIN is connecting more than 2,200 sites of care in Wisconsin and beyond. That number has grown more than 21 percent since 2020.”
The growth is continuing as WISHIN connects with new hospitals, existing systems, and organizations that represent pharmacies, long-term care facilities, home healthcare agencies, free and charitable clinics, the Department of Corrections, public health agencies, Adult Disability Resource Centers (ADRCs) and more. The amount of data coming into WISHIN Pulse has exploded!
More Pulse users and more data are on the way. Don’t be left behind. If you are not a WISHIN participant, contact wishin@wishin.org to find out how you can join the growing WISHIN network and share and receive the data that will help us build a healthier Wisconsin.
